Getting your clothes tailored or repaired is an investment in looking and feeling your best. But before you bring your items to Craft Cleaners, it’s a good idea to prepare them so our team can do the best possible job.

Step 1: Try On the Garment First

Wear the item and take note of how it feels. Is it too tight, too loose, or just uncomfortable in certain spots? Knowing exactly what you want adjusted helps us tailor it to your needs.

Step 2: Mark Problem Areas

Use safety pins or tape to mark where changes are needed like a hem that’s too long or a waistline that needs taking in. If you’re unsure, no problem! We’ll go over it with you during your fitting.

Step 3: Clean the Clothing

Please ensure your garment is freshly cleaned before bringing it in. The NJ Board of Health requires all items to be either laundered or new before any tailoring work can begin.

Step 4: Bring the Right Accessories

If you’re altering formalwear or items like dresses and suits, bring along the shoes or undergarments you’ll wear with them. This helps us tailor the length and fit perfectly.

Step 5: List Any Specific Requests
